So what’s this all about?

The why…

My most favorite memories growing up was when my family and I would leave the city in the summer and spend a few weeks at White Lake in upstate New York. My grandmother had a small bungalow in the woods that she used as a summer home. It is there that I developed a love of nature and travel. Going from a world of concrete and steel, to a special place of grass and trees, cool air, and the two lakes that begged us to come and swim as often as our parents allowed. Old general stores and drive in movie theaters. The spotlight that searched the night sky off in the distance looking for Bigfoot of course. The world was so big back then, summer nights were so long. We would play in the cold lakes for hours, and then go sit on the porch and listen to the woods as the last light left the sky and we would retreat for the night fully satisfied from the days activities.

The CampFather Hikes is a place where I can come and store my Hikes and travels in one place. I hope to post photos and videos of the past and make new ones when time and life allows. I enjoy getting out and hiking, camping, and traveling as often as I can. This site is another hobby to jump into as I have never made a website before. Right now I’m selfish because this sight is for me. I want to get to the place where the world looks big again.
